Dog Modelling 101

A few tips on how to prepare your dog for photos!

Brush up on the basics

Leading up to your shoot, practice some sit and stays to help your canine captivate the camera. Bonus points for down, shake-a-paw and any other fancy tricks you want to show off!

Exercise or rest

Depending on your dog's personality, energy level and age, I recommend either a walk beforehand or keep them rested so their personalities can shine! It's important to meet their energy needs, whatever that looks like for them.

Best dressed

Let's see those minimalist mutts! Remove any items you don't want in the photos (i.e. vaccine or license tags). Consider their grooming schedule and decide what looks best in your eyes. Avoid using a harness for the session. If needed, a double collar/leash system is preferred.

Motivation

I always have treats and a squeaky toy on hand. Picky eater or allergies, bring along their favourite snack! If you'd like, pack a ball or frisbee to flaunt their agility, all ideas are welcome!

Trust

I promise to capture their true personality, the one you fell in love with and want to share with anyone and everyone who will hear it. Don't stress if they aren't cooperating as you'd hoped; the more calm and at ease you are, they will follow suit.
